“THE BODY… I BUILT MY SECOND CAREER AROUND”

For more than a decade, I worked in the corporate world.

I worked in sales, account management and business development in technology companies.

I learned how businesses work.

I learned how people communicate, negotiate, make decisions, perform under pressure and adapt to change.

And for a long time, I thought that was what performance was about.

Targets.

Results.

Productivity.

Growth.

Then something changed.

I became increasingly interested in the person behind the performance.

What happens to the human body while all of this is happening?

What happens when we sit for hours?

When we move from meeting to meeting without really moving?

When our attention is constantly on a screen?

When we travel with a laptop, sleep in different beds, work from different chairs and expect our bodies to adapt instantly?

We had become incredibly good at making work mobile.

But I started wondering:

Had we made the human body mobile too?

That question changed the direction of my life.

I entered the world of Pilates and movement education.

Then anatomy.

Posture.

Spinal mechanics.

Mobility.

Strength.

Breathing.

Body awareness.

And eventually, the relationship between what we know about the body and what we actually experience inside it.

I founded TUNE Your Body & Mind in Istanbul and began building a practice around personalised movement and postural change.

But something interesting happened.

I realised I hadn’t really left the business world.

I had simply changed the business I was in.

In corporate life, I learned to understand systems.

In movement education, I learned to understand the human system.

In sales, I learned to listen to what people need.

In movement, I learned to listen to what the body is telling us.

In business, I learned problem-solving.

In movement, I learned that the body is not a problem to be constantly fixed.

It is a system to be understood.

And this is where my two careers finally came together.

Human performance is not only about what we ask people to achieve.

It is also about the human system that has to sustain that performance.

Today, my work sits at that intersection:

movement, functional anatomy, embodied awareness, human performance and the future of work.

And that is why I created the idea of The Nomad Body.

Because work has become increasingly location-independent.

But our bodies are not location-independent.

We take them everywhere.

Onto planes.

Into airports.

Into hotel rooms.

Onto sofas.

Into coworking spaces.

In front of laptops.

Into meetings.

Into stress.

Into new environments.

The body is the one workspace we carry everywhere.

So perhaps the next question about the future of work isn’t only:

Where will we work?

Maybe we should also ask:

How will we inhabit our bodies while we do it?

That is the question behind The Nomad Body.

Move better. Think clearer. Live anywhere.
